Heartgard Plus is a monthly oral pet med used as a combination heartworm preventive and intestinal wormer. Those wormer survival time in dogs is about 5-7 years, it will damage the heart and lung tissue, affect blood circulation, and then damage other organs.

Precautions before prevention:

• For the first time, consult a veterinarian and conduct a screening test: In order to help dogs establish a complete heartworm prevention plan. Veterinarians must discuss past prevention history with the owner. If the owner does not regularly help the dog with heartworm prevention, or has never used preventive medicine, it is recommended to screen before prescribing heartworm prevention medicine.
• Dogs under seven months of age: Start (or continue) regular monthly prophylaxis immediately; heartworm screening starts six months after the first prophylaxis.
• Dogs over 7 months old: Before giving preventive medicine for the first time, they should be screened for heartworm antigen and microfilaria, so that veterinarians can formulate a control plan based on the results. Regular medication every month, continue to achieve preventive effect!
• The importance of regular screening: Regular annual screening is necessary to ensure early diagnosis of infection, timely provision of treatment, and to reduce heartworm damage to the heart and lungs.

Ingredients:
Ivermectin and Pyrantel Pamoate are the two most active ingredients of Heartgard PLUS. These two ingredients kill the parasites and thus save them from the attack of heartworm disease.

One of the biggest advantages of Heartgard PLUS is that it can be used safely on pregnant and even nursing dogs. Not only this, Heartgard PLUS can also be used safely for puppies that are 6 weeks old

Directions for Usage

It should be given once a month for a complete year. One thing should be kept in mind that the pet should not swallow it rather it should be chewed
The pet owner should thus break it into smaller pieces so that it is not swallowed. It comes in unflavored and flavored chewable tablets.

Dosage depends on the weight of the dog. Normally following trend is followed
For 25 pound dog – 68mcg (Blue)
For 26-50 pound dog – 136mcg (Green)
For 51-100 pound dog – 272mcg (Brown)
Over 100 pounds – Combination of tablets is given.
