Hong Kong boasts a plethora of fun activities for dogs and their owners. From beaches and dog parks, to browsing shops and dining alfresco, taking your pup out and about has never been easier or more fun. Below is a list of fun activities for you and your canine friend.

Dog Parks

Cyberport Waterfront Park – With open spaces, greenery, and great views of the harbour, this waterfront park is great for letting your dog run freely and play with fellow canines. This lovely green area is filled with families and dogs on the weekend.. perfect for an afternoon picnic or you can grab a bite to eat at one of the outdoor eateries next to The Arcade.

Victoria Peak Garden – Once home to the Governor of Hong Kong, this Chinese style garden offers stunning views of Victoria Harbour, including views from the South and West of Hong Kong Island. Bring your pup’s favorite toy and spend the afternoon enjoying the fresh air and open space.

Quarry Bay Promenade – A seaside walkway and pet garden, this promenade provides a leisure spot for urban dogs. The pet garden occupies an area of around 2,500 square meters, offering panoramic views of Victoria Harbor.

Central and Western District Promenade (Sheung Wan Section) – Another urban spot for dogs, this 3,200 square foot grassy fenced area is great for dogs to roam freely in the middle of the city. After an afternoon of playing Frisbee, head to one of the many dog friendly establishments for a refreshing sundowner.

Kowloon Tsai Park – A 14 hectare public park located in Kowloon, this open area features lush tress, green lawns, a children’s playground, and various sports facilities. Owners can bring their dogs to the “Dog Garden” near the entrance of the park and watch them let loose with their canine friends.

Butterfly Valley Road Pet Garden – Situated on the western side of Kowloon, this 7,000 square meter dog park is complete with a pet activity area, doggy drinking fountains, and grassy patches for your pooch to run around. This doggy playground was decorated under the theme “Jumping on a Floating Piece of Wood”, which can be seen through its rippled pattern footpath and raft-like wooden benches on the lawn.

Stanley – One of the most visited places for both tourist and locals alike, Stanley Market boasts an array of little shops selling silk garments, sportswear, art, Chinese costume jewelry, and souvenirs. After browsing through the multitude of goodies, take your pup to The Barking Lot Cafe – a cafe catering to dogs and their owners with an on-site education center, a student volunteer program, and adoption center. Before heading home, take your pup for a swim along Stanley’s Main Beach where windsurfers and paddle boarders enjoy the surf.

Sai Kung – With plenty of activities for your canine companion, this area is truly a doggy playground. Take your pup for a stroll along the pier, or have a bite in one of the many dog friendly restaurants. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a taxi to Wong Shek pier and hike through Sai Kung East Country Park to Tai Long Wong, where you’ll be rewarded with white sands and amazing views.

Lantau – Take the ferry to Mui Wo where you’ll find a nice area for dogs at Silvermine Beach. Continue hiking towards Discovery Bay and you’ll come across many open beaches where your pup can cool off with a swim. Once in Discovery Bay, you and your pup can enjoy a relaxing seaside meal on the renowned alfresco dining hotspot, D’Deck.

Lamma Power Station Beach – A short walk from Yung Shue Wan village, this quite, sandy beach is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. This beautiful spot makes a safe place for dogs to run freely. And after a day of running and swimming, head back to Yung Shue Wan to one of their dog-friendly restaurants or bars for a nice refresher.

Cheung Chau Beach – A favorite among locals and pet owners alike, this little dog beach is not only great for swimming, but perfect for water enthusiasts. Situated next to the Windsurfing Center, dogs can roam freely and go for a swim, while their human counterparts enjoy the myriad of water activities. If swimming isn’t on the agenda, go for a walk on one of the island’s mini hikes, featuring the “Mini Great Wall” and unique rock formations. Before heading home, head down to the waterfront for a seafood dinner and watch the fishermen bring in their catch for the day.


Mikiki Thru Shopping – A Japanese word meaning “to see and to experience”, this dog-friendly shopping mall is a nice alternative to outdoor activities. You and your pup can browse through the shops using the site’s complementary pet stroller, and be sure to stop by the doggie cafe, Just Fun Club, where your companion can enjoy dog-safe hamburgers, dim sum, cakes and more.

Stanley Plaza – This outdoor, multi level shopping area is Hong Kong’s first dog-friendly mall. Weekends usually bring musicians performing at the amphitheater, while families gather around the outdoor children’s playground next door. Take your pick from the string of dog-friendly alfresco restaurants lining the waterfront.. before leaving, treat your pup to a special doggie gelato from Gino’s Gelato in either chicken or beef flavor.
